Base Wellington Hostel

View was terrific, staff were very obliging, very friendly atmosphere. Good basic accommodation.

It was completely suitable for what we wanted, a bed and bathroom while we explored Wellington. Our legs were very sore from climbing the stairs for a couple of days, as the lift didn't go up that far, but that was because we were unfit, and the view was worth it!

Location was convenient.

After a day out i returned to my room to find my locker which had been locked with my padlock no longer had the padlock thereby leaving the laptop computer within the locker unsecured. I am very certain that I locked the padlock and I do no think it likely that one of the other guests in the room removed it. I am reasonably certain that the cleaning staff while preparing another bed in the room for a guest who had departed, were responsible. It do not find this situation to be appropriate and needed to buy a replacement padlock. Th kitchen was reasonably dirty and much more so than The Base in Sydney unfortunately. The noise from surrounding nightclubs is extremely loud and stays at full volume throughout the night.

The ramped up rip-off prices over the world cup - very cynical. I'm on the road for a year - every $ counts when on a budget and I had to pay double the average rate. Base - you've gone too 'corporate' on decent people trying to see the world.

Really helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location walking distance to so much Wellington has to offer.Great heating and crisp clean linen, fantastic for a back packers, very clean bathroom facilities. I would be vey happy to recomend to my family and friends

unfortunately we had chipped and dirty cups, and though it was lovely to have a kettle in the room it was nearly impossible to fill it in the bathroom with out flooding the bathroom floor. Big shame but still would stay at The Base again Very noisy until 11 if wanting an early night or perhaps it was because we were near the stairs and had elephants above us and we'd been up since 4.30 am But we did get sleep so can't complain too much

It was central and clean and was what it said it was a backpackers

it is easy to book online , the breakfast is very affordable. and good location

the room felt very compact . it had three bunk beds in a small room , only about one meter space between beds

The staff were lovely and helpful, even though they were rushed off their feet!

My b/f is a smoker and by far and away the reason for choosing Base was for a rom with a balcony, Me - I love the view and natural light in that room ;}

Under the bed was dirty!!

Location was good.

Charging 2% extra for using a foreign Visa card with no reason being given as to where the extra charge goes....totally unfair. Poor quality room for the price.....no place to hang anything.....spilt paint on the floor.....very noisey.
